Dive into the world of Ludwig Senfl!

‘Senfl’s World’ is a map-based history website developed by the team of the New Senfl Edition. It is a free online resource that attempts to give an insight into the world of the Renaissance composer Ludwig Senfl (c.1490–1543) and to illustrate his life and the various networks in which he operated. As it is often difficult or even impossible for us today to imagine such a world from a distance of more than 500 years, the map brings together hundreds of records with information, pictures, and documentary material on all those people with whom Senfl was in direct or indirect contact; on the sources that were created up to his death and which contain on Senfl’s works; or on important events in which the composer was involved.

In a multidimensional approach and with the help of digital technology, history and art are to be linked and geographically located in order to create a resource for the cultural history of the first half of the 16th century.
